What is a netbook and how is it used

What is a netbook? it is a technical electronic learning tool or simply small computer which is called a netbook are complex and could be used for work or research in school. We go online to do blogging and planning.

What are the parts? The parts on a netbook are simple, similar to a normal laptop but has less. It has a screen, battery, USB slot, charger slot, a touch pad, headphone slot, built in speakers. And all the simple parts it would need.

How does it work? You can use the internet to go on math websites like Maths whizz, Xtra maths, Studdyladder, or write using google drive. Then when you have finished your writing you post it on your blog where you can post your writing.

Extra details and interesting topic: If your netbook malfunctions then you will need to reimage it. Reimaging means resetting your netbook files meaning all your stuff that you put on will be deleted. First you will need A reimaging stick. You can get one from a teacher.

Kids interview

Wednesday was the day Class 2 (Room 21) interviewed the Yr 2 kids. It was a sunny hot day in the village. We asked questions about what toy the Yr 2 kids wanted. Each of us were put into groups of 3 or 4 and had up to 2 to 4 kids in each group.

Our task was to create a suitable toy for children to play with using the 3D printer in the street. Which means we need an Imac for designing the right toy for use. We searched and found a downloaded file called Sketchup. We don't want to design a toy that could harm children, so we need to be the right size, not to small or children will swallow and choke on it.

Lukis, Jordan and I were chosen to be a group of 3. Every group had 3 to 4 kids in their group but we only got two for ours. A little boy named Qwanell : age 5 and a girl named Syriah: age 5, they are both year 2.

We ask them what kind of toy they wanted. Qwanell wanted a toy car, PS3 controller, a Ipad. Syriah wanted a toy doll, butterfly, painting brush, toy animal, Ipad 2, teddy bear, balloons, and Dora the Explora.

I can’t wait till I finish my design. I wonder what it will turn out to be

Netbook reflection 2012

It’s been a great year with our netbooks since the first term 2012. Sometimes it can be challenging when we use the internet for research but we get there eventually. It can be difficult with netbooks because it can be complicated to use sometimes but that’s just us learning. Before we had our netbooks, we had paperwork, it was hard using them because we use pencils and the pencils would often break. But there have been huge changes since we got our netbooks. We are better at creating and growing more and more in our initiative.

The great things about our netbooks and our learning is that we get to look at other sites, explore the internet, solve problems, be creative, being cybersmart, better than using pencil and book and the greatest thing is we get to take it home and do extra work.

The not so good things about it is that the internet can be so slow and that can frustrate you and you end up breaking it, and they break easily. Or you get the kills pages message on chrome. I also think the screen is too small, webcam and sound needs to be a higher quality, and the hinges on the screen are too weak to handle everyday use!

I would like to thank Mr Burt and Mrs Burt for letting us use this technology and I would like to thank the people who made the netbooks
