Term one reflection

Term 1 Reflection 2014

My highlights this term would have to be...
My favorite highlight for this term is Fia Fia because I liked performing in front of a massive crowd. I was in the band and Hip Hop group (Seniors). I also got the chance to work with a musician named Styx.

I have made improvements/progress in…….
My reading, Maths and writing

I know this because….
I have less mistakes in writing. I have found maths to be a little easier. I am understanding the story in reading.

I still need to work hard to improve my…
writing because of lack of proofreading so that it makes sense. Maths,  managing my time and reading.

I know this because…
I have improved only a little in most of my subjects.

I am most proud of my efforts to...
Play musical instruments and my reading. I have been playing in assembly as part of the school band.

My 3 main goals for Term 2 will be...
1. Writing - proofread and edit better
2. Guitar - improve skills and learn how to play more songs
3. Maths - learn to use strategies better

Fia Fia reflection

A massive crowd of people rocked up to the stage on the Point England field with their food and drinks because it’s all happening. FIA FIA IS BACK!!!

There were countless numbers of people who arrived to see their children and relatives perform. All the groups that performed the last fia fia performed, apart from a new one, a group called “Precisely That”.

I performed for the band and the senior hip hop group. Because of my awesome talent for being a musician, I got chosen to be in the band as well as I picked Hip Hop.

The atmosphere was greater than I would had thought because of amount of people. I could feel myself getting nervous while the clock ticks after every performance until it was the senior hip hop group’s turn. after the Bollywood group had just come of stage, and the prefect have presented us and the music started, we hopped on stage and did our thing as everyone would have done.

Kyal's talents

Once upon a time, a boy named Kyal had a talent for drawing with his hands and fingers. Everyone knew him for his intelligence, he could create and was treated kindly and he was very helpful around the community. He also went to church and he knew how to show sympathy but found it hard to show empathy. He didn't even know what empathy was. So he ran away because he didn't know what it meant.

Friends and family

Family and friends are the most important things you could have in life. They can always be by your side or not. It depends on what kind of friends you have. If you are young and you have a friend or family member who encourages you into smoking or drinking without your parents permission, then they will not be a good friend or family member. It is always good to choose a wise friend.

If you think deeply about what friends or family you have, it can lead you to good things or bad things. You could be rich, you can be a role model, or you can become someone famous.

But if you were to pick a bad choice of a friend or family, it can lead you to a bad future. You would have no job and will have to search for food or are forced to ask for help. All of this depends on what friend or family you have. Like every one, you can’t not have a bad friend or family member because there is always someone who will be the bad friend.
That friend could even be you.

Tamaki College sports

Tamaki College, a place located beyond Glen Innes, or just down the road from Point England School. Tamaki college has all kinds of interesting cultures but mostly Maori and Polynesian. Some faces would appear familiar to others. That is because some students from Tamaki college came from  Point England school.

We go to Tamaki College because it gives the older students experience with younger students for their sports activities. We come down so were not stuck in the class all day. The tutors are Year 12 students that attend Tamaki College. They are teaching us P.E. skills. They learn about leadership skills for N.C.E.A.

P.E. helps to us get fitter and it helps to train our muscles. It helps for long term health or even become interested in sports or social activities.

Our experience with sports at Tamaki College is fun and can sometimes be exciting. It includes different activities like electric fence, blindfolded course (things like jumping on to things).

Cyclone Lusi

1. What is a cyclone? Cyclones are a dangerous kind of storm which should be avoided. Clouds darken, rough winds, heavy rain and all the things that will turn your day to a disaster. It can cause severe damage to buildings, no where is safe if you get caught in the cyclone . This cyclone was named Lusi, every cyclone has a name.

2. What would happen during a cyclone? Houses flying high towards the center of the cyclone is the most brutal part that you would ever hit. Things will collapse together and it will get messy after the storm has past. All that was once your house will now turn into over NINE THOUSAND!!! pieces.

3. During the weekend the weather was extreme. Trees were falling and there was heaps of flying objects. There was severe winds hitting the shore of the beaches. We got advised to stay in doors and keep all light objects indoors. There was serious rain pouring down. It wasn't as severe as I thought it was going to be.

4. To prepare you’ll need to bring all objects inside and you should also store food and water. You’ll also need to bring pets indoors to keep them safe and dry. You should paper candle or a torch in case to power line goes down. You can also store a wireless radio and some bottles of water. Watch out for any flying objects and stay indoors at all times.

FIA FIA!!

The Cook Island drums pound as everyone streams down the breeze to their destination, because it’s FIA FIA practice! My group and I practice in the street for the Senior Hip Hop group.
We are not entirely quite sure what song we are dancing to, but I really
want to move to Kpop (Korean pop). I have the dance sorted but haven’t shown or taught anyone.

Our tutors are Miss King and Miss Paget. Although they have little experience for dancing, they can still help with providing dance
moves.

Levi, Mele and I are the senior hip hop leaders. Our job is to come up with a variety of moves that are easy. Levi and Mele’s group have their dance sorted but I’m still working on mine.

I am hoping that our group will do well till Fia Fia comes and have sharper moves if it is not convincing or chose the right song choice if no one agrees to it.
